Song Stuck In My Head This Week - 6th June '09 - Das Pop - Underground

I first heard this song by Belgian band Das Pop several months ago and the sneaky wee track keeps crawling back into my head. Quite how it never got serious radio play or success when it was released in the UK in August last year I'll never know as it's such infectious pop.

Instead we were given Alphabeat who were ok but a bit samey after a while whereas, having since downloaded the Das Pop album (it was leaked online 3 months early and subsequently never released by Sony), I know they have a solid set of tunes there and should have been given a better chance to shine as I, for one, would rather have spent money to buy there album than have gotten it for free.

I mean, I'm all for 'try before you buy' but I firmly believe in paying for my music because if you don't then artists (a)won't ever get paid and (b) we'll get more of the 'production line' crap like people on X Factor who, on the whole, get used to make a quick buck and then get thrown aside in time for the next puppet to come along (Leon Jackson, Michelle McManus, Steve whatshisnameagain etc) which is the kind of thing that makes me despair of the music industry today.

So here it is, enjoy some Das Pop :-)

Das Pop - Underground

I really have to let you know
The time has come for me to go
I’ve seen it all, there’s nothing left to say
It’s not about the job you quit
The boy you’re with, the girl you live with
The time spent with a half-wit
It’s not about the things you’ve said
Or the things you told me in my bed
The promise of magic

I’m going underground
Will you let me know when you’re going outta town?
And will you take me down
To the here and now

You knew just what to do to me
The things you learned in Germany
The time when I was just a plaything
Now I am going underground
I’m undercover as of now
I follow in your shadow

I’m going underground
Will you let me know when you’re going outta town?
And will you take me down
To the here and now

Knock away holes in the ceiling
To bathe in the light of the morning
I’m going underground

And it may be hard to understand
The moment my aching hands
The moment

I’m going underground
Will you let me know when you’re going outta town?
And will you take me down
To the here and now
I will show you how

I’m going underground
Will you let me know when you’re going outta town?
And will you take me down
To the here and now

I’m going underground
Will you let me know when you’re going outta town?
And will you take me down
To the here and now
